MIT International School has two big reasons to celebrate its students’ performance in the 2014 Advanced Placement (AP) Exams.
First, the school’s average Advanced Placement passing rate has reached the levels attained by the top performing schools in the United States.
Second, twelve students at MIT International School have earned the designation of AP Scholar by the College Board in recognition of their exceptional achievement on the college-level Advanced Placement (AP) exams.
Four students qualified for the AP Scholar with Distinction Award by earning an average score of at least 3.5 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on five or more of these exams. These students are Lee, Wonjae; Choi, Seungjae; Oh, Joon; and Kwon, Hyeonjung.
Three students qualified for the AP Scholar with Honor Award by earning an average score of at least 3.25 on all AP Exams taken, and scores of 3 or higher on four or more of these exams. These students are Lee, Jae Yeol; Mun, Jeonghun; and Park, Juwon.
Five students qualified for the AP Scholar Award by completing three or more AP Exams with scores of 3 or higher. The AP Scholars are Felizardo, Monica; Lee, Claude; Park, Jinsoo; Ryu, Hyeonah; and Seo, Minjae.
Through 37 different college-level courses and exams, AP provides motivated and academically prepared students with the opportunity to earn college credit or advanced placement and stand out in the college admissions process. Each exam is developed by a committee of college and university faculty and AP teachers, ensuring that the exams are aligned with the same high standards expected by college faculty at some of the nation’s leading liberal arts and research institutions.
MIT International School has been authorized by the College Board to offer Advanced Placement courses since School Year 2009-2010 to its Senior High School (Grades 11 & 12) students.
