A Send-off to the 7th Batch of MITIS Graduates

MIT International School celebrated its 7th Commencement Exercises with the theme “Reach Out, Touch Lives, and Together Grow” last May 22, 2015 at The Bellevue Manila.

The whole MITIS community gathered together to celebrate the achievements of its 44 graduates from Grade 6, Grade 10, and Grade 12.

Ezekiel Kyle Blanco, the Grade 6 Valedictorian, set the tone early through his welcome message, where he reminded his fellow graduates that their success was made possible because of the support of their parents, teachers, and friends.

Adrian Sui Kei O. Yue, the Grade 12 class Valedictorian, shared his life story before he came to MITIS. For him, high school was a roller coaster ride as he had already studied in 7 different schools in the past 15 years. He also mentioned his ups and downs as a student but at the end he triumped all of these challenges. He gained various awards such as Subject Excellence in Earth Science, World History, AP Macroeconmics, AP Microeconomics, Digital Media and Information Design. He also received General Excellence in Conduct, Special Award for Sports and recepient of the Mayor Jaime Fresnedi Academic Award. Finally, Adrian talked about how success is achievable if one is willing to “get out of (ones) comfort zone and prepare (…) to adapt to a different environment” in order to survive.  To give emphasis to the theme, he encouraged his friends to “continue the cylcle (of excellence) and help others grow” not only through grandiose acts but also through life’s simple pleasures — a SMILE!

Next, Ramona Gabrielle Oca, the Grade 10 Valedictorian, enjoined everyone to express their gratitude to all those who have been instrumental in their educational journey. She paid special tribute to the late Dr. Bienvenido V. Santos, whom she called the “heart and soul of MITIS.”

This year’s STRIPES Awardee and Grade 12’s class Salutatorian, Juwon Park (Tony), led the class in reciting the Pledge of Loyalty. The STRIPES Award is the highest award that a senior student can get. This is a symbol of being exemplary, smart and good student of MIT Int’l School. Juwon also gained other awards such as Subject Excellence in AP English Literature & Composition, Environmental Science, Filipino and AP Psychology. He also received Medal of Achievement, Gold Medal for Service, Leadership Award and the Mayor Jaime Fresnedi Academic Award.

Again, we congratulate all the graduates. May you continue to strive for more successess  in the near future!
