August 7 marked the beginning of the 12th school year of MIT International School. And as an enduring tradition, students, teachers, and other community members launched it with optimism celebrating its new annual theme, “MITISzens: Living to Learn, Love, and Lead.”
Mr. Dae Kwan Chung, School Director, addressed the entire school body during the first Morning Assembly of the year. He shared his renewed commitment towards delivering quality education among the returning and new members of the MITIS community.
Ms. Maria Ana G. Yañez, Teacher- Leader for School Operations, then introduced the members of the school leadership team, faculty, and staff. She shared that the school programs will be governed by the School Director with the assistance of the new teacher-leaders (TLs): TL for School Operations, Academics, and Student Affairs. This structure aims to make the delivery of programs more effective in terms of the achievement of school goals.
After the Morning Assembly, students attended an orientation where the school’s philosophy, vision, and mission, academic and student support programs were discussed. Younbeom Lee, Maria Ana Katrina Naval, and Joel Andrei Ramirez, Advance Placement (AP) Scholar Awardees of College Board, were also recognized for their outstanding achievements during the May 2018 AP examinations.
Great things are in store for the school year including the administration of a new standardized test and implementing new student activity programs that aim to further promote the school’s Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs) and core values (STRIPES). Students, teachers, parents, and guardians are very much hopeful of the great promise this school year may bring as the entire community dedicates itself in achieving success for all learners.
