The MITIS Badminton Team bested 5 teams in the recently concluded Metro Manila International Schools Athletic Association (MISAA) Badminton Competition (Division 1: 15-17 years old) and came out triumphant as First (1st) Runner-up Overall Champions. MITIS defeated representatives from European International School (EIS), Reedley International School (A and B), and Domuschola International School (DIS).
Grade 10 Tony Lee Yeonbeom, who outclassed all of his opponents in the Boy’s Single Category, was joined by his fellow MITIS Tigers Patrisha Jane Gan, Grade 9, for Girl’s Single category; and James We Junghwan, Grade 12, and Julianne Lavilla, Grade 7, for the Mixed Doubles category. Mentoring the tigers and tigresses is Sir Jomar Q. Manuel.
The team, having much of their experiences in the MITIS Sportsfest 2016 and the ongoing MITIS Badminton Open 2016, bowed to the Chinese International School Manila team only , who eventually rose as the Champions.
Held last March 12 at the Chinese International School Manila (CISM), the games started at 8:00 a.m. and ended at 3:00 p.m.
