Thank You, MITIS

They always say that when an opportunity arrives, we should be grabbing and embracing it because it might be a choice between now or never. One of the biggest opportunities that came to my life was this scholarship from MIT International School, and without a doubt, I grabbed it. And so far, it is the best decision my family and I have made for me.

First of all, this scholarship allows me to experience the world class education, which is recognized by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC), this institution provides. The education challenges me to do something that would make me grow not only as a student but as an individual too by opening doors for me to widen my knowledge, pass on the passion I have for learning, and discover more about the unknown. With our top caliber, very dedicated, and caring teachers, I don’t only gain or share my knowledge in my classes, but I also find them worthwhile and fun.

Second, this has made me more motivated than ever. It isn’t entirely because we have to maintain our grades to be able to still be accepted as scholars. I think it’s more of making our parents proud, that all of their sacrifices are worth it. Studying hard is also our way of expressing our gratitude to MITIS for giving us this opportunity. This scholarship allows us to be more driven and hardworking, which are, for sure, going to be useful in the future paths we will take.

Third, MIT not only made me realize the importance of being smart; it also made me realize that being good should always come a long the way. What is the point of doing something if attitude and character are not present? Truly, MIT has always emphasized the importance of having a heart for everyone. This is why I’m really proud of our ESLRs and STRIPES. They are simply not acronyms and compilation of words only; they are always ingrained in all of us.

On top of everything, this scholarship ensured me that I have a second family in school. I have an administration and leadership team ready to serve and lend a helping hand whenever I need something. I have a set of teachers who do not only foster creative minds but are also approachable and ready to offer their listening (h)ear(t). I have classmates who encourage me to strive harder. I have a group of crazy individuals and best friends who I can trust and rely on. Truly, we’re more than just a school; we are a family. As what our Registrar, Ms. Florence, always tells us, this scholarship is God-given, and God chose MIT International School and the people behind it as the bridge in fulfilling this. I am very thankful, of course, to the team behind our school, most especially to Mr. Boyinggi Yu, our Chief Development Officer, for this life-changing opportunity. Above all, I always glorify His name for all these blessings. With all these doors that my scholarship with MITIS have opened, I will be forever grateful to my school.
