In pursuit of achieving success for every learner, MIT International School recently acquired the expertise and services of Northwest Evaluation Association (NWEA) to facilitate the Measure of Academic Progress (MAP) – Growth tests starting this school year.
MITIS students are currently taking the pre-test of the MAP-Growth in which their performance will be used to make the delivery of instructions more effective. With this, the students are expected to have positive academic outcomes by the end of the school year.
MAP-Growth is a computer adaptive standardized test that identifies what students know and what they can further learn. Unlike many paper and pencil tests in which exam questions are the same for everyone, MAP-Growth provides questions based on students responses. The variety and level of difficulty are both adjusted so that the correct level of student competency can be measured.
Furthermore, the exam provides “goals” that students, teachers, and parents target to achieve for the academic year. This makes the assessment process more purposive for educators and more meaningful and rewarding for learners.
Moreover, international schools in the Philippines and around the world use MAP-Growth as an external assessment that does not only foster individual student learning but measure the effectiveness of their academic programs, as well. The entire MITIS community hopes that with its new partnership with NWEA, it can intensify its efforts in delivering quality education among students.
The results of the exam will be shared with parents and guardians in order to better assist students with their academic goals at home.
