Drawing inspiration from the fame of rock during the 1980’s, the high school promenade for Grades 9 to 12 students upended norms, set aside traditions, and imbibed a rock concert mood for its 2019 edition held last April 30 at the Sequoia Function Room, Acacia Hotel Manila.
To set the tone, the program started with a performance from the MITIS Band composed of students handpicked by their Music teacher, Mr. Joseph Guzman. Each high school class presented a number which were relevant to the theme of the promenade. Also, a special dance showcase by selected students highlighted unity among the members of the high school grade levels.
After this, students from the graduating batch handed over the responsibilities of enriching the school culture and pride further to their younger counterparts as they passed symbols of the school’s core values, STRIPES. Also, the out-going President of the Student Coordinating Board, Charles Denver M. Opague, delivered his a speech to pass the Key of Responsibilities to the Grade 11 representative, Iona Violeta A. Gibbs.
The students who stood out during the night were recognized next. Hamin Kim of Grade 9 and Anagha Menon of Grade 10 were chosen as the Prom Prince and Princess while Jaewoo Kim and Iona Violeta Gibbs of Grade 11 class were crowned as this year’s Prom King and Queen.
The memorable night ended with a set of rock performances from different students and teachers.
Aside from being a night of glitz and glamour, the MITIS Promenade is a very important avenue for students, teachers, and other members of the school community to celebrate camaraderie and strengthen the school spirit.
