MITIS Runway 2019 highlights art and self-expression; Opague and Naval take home crowns as winners

Last May 17, school community witnessed its fifth MITIS Runway to cap off the celebration of the school’s twelfth year anniversary with the theme, “MITISzens: Living to Learn, Love, and Lead.”

Each class from Grades 7 to 12 sent a pair as its representatives. The candidates showed their style in their promotional photos posted in the school’s social media accounts. During the final night of the competition, student-representatives walked on the red carpet and showcased their take in the different outfit cycles including all-white, pop art, and formal attires. Finally, the contestants answered questions to show their understanding of the school’s core values and Expected Schoolwide Learning Results (ESLRs). Their confidence on the runway and the Question-and-Answer portion were evaluated by a panel of judges composed of representative members of the community and other invited guests.

                The following were the winners of the minor awards.

  • Mr. and Ms. Online Idol: Charles Opague and Annika Lavilla
  • Mr. and Ms. People’s Choice: Charles Opague and Clara Isabel Novicio
  • Mr. and Ms. White Fashion: Charles Opague and Nina Naval
  • Mr. and Ms. Creative Fashion: Charles Opague and Nina Naval
  • Mr. and Ms. Formal Attire: Annika Lavilla and Hamin Kim
  • Mr. and Ms. Photogenic : Julianne Lavilla and Hamin Kim

Elyjia Escolano of Grade 8 and Julianne Lavilla of Grade 10 snatched the 2nd Runner-Up award while Hamin Kim of Grade 9 and Annika Lavilla of Grade 7 were 1st Runners-Up. Lastly, Charles Opague and Nina Naval of Grade 12 were crowned as Mr. and Ms. MITIS Runway 2019.

The event is held every year to promote the value of being self-respecting individuals among members of the school community.
