Meet Sang Hee Son, a Senior High School student at MIT International School, who earned an impressive 4 in AP 2-D Art & Design!

These two artworks are part of her Sustained Investigation (S.I.)—a core component of the AP Art & Design portfolio that goes beyond creating individual artworks.

Through focused inquiry, visual research, experimentation, and written evidence, as well as the guidance and reflective training of our AP 2D Art and Design teacher Sir Rico Ireneo, Sang Hee developed her ideas into a compelling visual narrative.

In her works, she explores mythical and powerful figures, identity, transformation, and the relationship between humans and fantastical worlds. Her use of dramatic composition, expressive figures, vibrant colors, movement, and contrasting light creates a sense of mystery, power, and storytelling.

This is what AP Art is about: asking meaningful questions, researching visually, developing ideas, and showing how your artistic thinking evolves.
